Case Study
Leeds Bradford Airport Fire Rated Shutters
Over the course of 2020 Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) will be investing £5m in upgrades and customer service initiatives to enhance passenger’s experience.
As part of the initial project Alliance Doors were approached by a West Yorkshire based trade partner to supply their Series 37 Compact 4-hour fire rated roller shutters for installation at the international airport. The shutters were coated Iron Grey (RAL7011), inhouse, utilising Alliance’s 8000mm capacity powder coating oven.
Multiple shutters have been installed in the retail area of the airport complex during phase one of the project, with more to follow over the summer months. Plans have also been submitted to build a new £150m state-of-art replacement terminal, which would be the UK’s most environmentally efficient airport building, Alliance’s fire shutter design, which is specified for use at many prestigious sites, allows for an unobtrusive and more aesthetically pleasing product, ideally suited for openings where there is need for security and protection from the risk of fire.
The additional 4-hour integrity rating was added to the range after audit and product test sampling by Warringtonfire, ensuring the shutter is fully compliant and meets the essential characteristics of BS EN 16034:2014 and BS EN 13241:1:2003.
With an enviable reputation for manufacturing high quality products, Alliance’s durable and compliant doors are not only supplied to trade customers the length and breadth of the UK, demand is also growing in the Middle East and other European states.
