First Bus – Ram-Fold Sliding Power Door
Profile doors, acquired by Alliance Door Engineering Ltd in 2007, have been installing their in house made range of Folding Shutter Doors for over 25 years, specialising in the larger applications which require cost effective and high security solutions.
Alliance were the preferred contractor for the Bury Depot, having recently completed a full refurbishment of the folding shutter doors on the Oldham depot, in conjunction with a redevelopment of the existing site. Having successfully completed the works at Oldham, Alliance was invited to tender for the full replacement of the existing access and egress doors at Bury. Using our wealth of mechanical and electrical experience, we put together a package that suited the requirements of First Bus and bettered our competitors.
Following the initial contact from First Bus, the project was managed by our very own Managing Director John Hare, who not only quoted the work, but surveyed, specified electrical requirements and liaised with the site and the Senior Building Surveyor. The specific nature of the site required the doors to be bi-parting, driven by motors on both sides which were linked together to operate simultaneously, induction loops to detect traffic and 2.5M light curtains fitted in front and behind the doors to detect any possible entrapment.
The works have now ensured First Bus have a reliable and secure access and egress system, fully compliant with the latest health and safety legislation enabling them to meet the public demands for a punctual transport system.

Mark Johnston Racing
Profile doors, acquired by Alliance Door Engineering Ltd in 2007, have been installing their in house made range of Folding Shutter Doors for over 25 years, specialising in the larger applications which require cost effective and high security solutions.
Alliance were recommended to Mark Johnston by a fellow aviator, who had the Ram Fold Folding Shutter installed on his own hangar. Following the initial contact, the project was again managed by our very own Managing Director John Hare, who surveyed, specified electrical requirements and liaised with Mark Johnston and the Building Contractor. The specific nature of the site required the doors to be bi-parting, driven by motors on both sides which could be independently operated.
The works has now ensured Mark has a hanger door capable of providing the required space and security to accommodate the new aircraft of his dreams.

McAleer & Rushe, Angel Lane, Stratford, London
Profile doors, acquired by Alliance Door Engineering Ltd in 2007, have been installing their in house made range of Folding Shutter Doors for over 25 years, specialising in the larger applications which require cost effective and high security solutions.
Alliance were approached by McAleer & Rushe for the student accommodation project at Angel Lane, to design a door that could be hung from a stepped ceiling and maintain enough clear side room for disabled car parking spaces and maintain enough headroom for the refuse collection vehicle.
This particular project represented quite a challenge, as the door would be required to open and close automatically, have safety devices, incorporate a keypad and be accessible by the Fire Brigade via a fireman’s switch. We put together a package that suited the requirements of McAleer & Rushe and allowed them to complete the £30M project.
Following the initial contact from McAleer & Rushe, the project was managed by our very own Managing Director John Hare, who not only quoted the work, but surveyed, specified electrical requirements and liaised with the site. The specific nature of the site required the doors to be bi-parting, driven by motors on both sides which were linked together to operate simultaneously, 65% of the door had to bunch on one side and 30% bunch on the other. The door was operated by digital keypad and had safety detectors in the top corner of each side of the door. These detectors spanned a light grid across the opening front and back, if the grid was broken at any point, the door would stop immediately. A fireman’s switch was also fitted that would allow the Fire Brigade to open the door in case of emergency.
The works have now ensured Unite Student Accommodation have a reliable and secure access and egress system, fully compliant with the latest health and safety legislation enabling them to meet the demands for accommodation.

Alliance were the preferred contractor and were asked to provide a bi-parting Ram Fold to the vehicle entrance. The door was surveyed by our MD who also liaised with the building contractor. Whilst on site, it was pointed out that some kind of surround was needed to not only cover the supporting steel work, but to complement the door. It was at that point that Alliance were commissioned to come up with an architectural design that would be pleasing to the eye, cover the steel work and complement the door.
The works has now ensured St Pancras Mortuary has a vehicle door providing the required space and security, with architectural surrounds to compliment the recent refurbishment.
